If you've been looking for a way to exercise your green thumb jump in this fun and unique world of "vermiculture". or "humus worm "is a process of organic gardening natural compost using earthworms, known as the Red wriggler (Eisenia fetida). The larvae transform food scraps into rich compost and liquid fertilizers. It is the perfect pastime to support the "cradle to cradle" return of organic matter to its origin, the mother earth.
It is also ideal for small spaces. The worms only need about 1 square foot of surface to digest every pound of scrap generated per week. Please provide your worms with a container, some bedding, food scraps and the worms do the rest.
They consume food scraps, hair, dust and organic waste reduction by 25% within 60 days and produce vermicompost, which contain the richest form of fertilizer known to man. Concentrated vermicompost fertilizers are very powerful and must be mixed with potting soil or water to dilute the concentration. The worm racks above average growth promotion in plants and are rich in phosphorus, nitrogen, and trace elements.
To start the new worm risk, need the following materials:
· Compost Bin (DIY, or trade)
· Compost Scrap Keeper (leftovers are, ceramic or stainless steel)
· Bedding material
· Food scraps
· Worms (Red fry or Nigh Crawlers)
Compost Bins
You can create your own DIY container of humus earthworm, but to keep things clean, simple and well organized, I would suggest investing in a commercially manufactured vermin-compost bin culture. They are well worth worth the money spent.
Vermiculture Compost Bins separate food scraps from finished compost automatically, and most importantly, not be emptied or restarted as well as some containers yourself. Some parasites recommended compost bins culture include:
· Expandable Worm Tower
· Worm Condo
· Worm Bungalow
· Down Under Worm Farm Compost Bin
· Pet Poo Converter and Worm Compost Bin
· Compost Bin Worm Friendly Habitat
· Advanced Biosafe biosystem
Other useful accessories to look are the beds worm (vermiculture good if you are new), soil moisture a guardian of scrap compost (ceramic or stainless steel), and pH meter, compressed bricks of coir (the beds) and the "worm compost and reference Wheel "
Worms
Oh and of course, do not forget the worms, grubs and worms Red Red (tolerate a wide range of environmental conditions) and / or Night Crawlers (they feed the deeper parts of the box) will do the job. A mixture of the two will create vermicompost rich and abundant.
Bedding
After you've made or bought a container fertilizer, can be filled with bedding. Worms prefer a cool moist but well-ventilated, dark environment of 50 to 80 degrees. Worms avoid light and are photophobia, which avoid the sun and artificial light, digging as deep as they can escape the light. Heat and sunlight are dehydrated little fry and all that end are "fried" worms.
The bed material can be peat moss, aged manure, sawdust, dried grass clippings, hay, garden clay, coir (fiber coir), straw, damp newspaper, Hesse, cotton rags, the old horse / cow manure (fresh manure is heated) strips of cardboard, newspaper, grocery bags, and most types of shredded leaves. Oak leaves and other highly acid are not recommended, as these worms do not like half acid. Stay away from the ink and glossy papers, as they contain toxic substances that can wipe out their fry.
Keep into account the worms have a good appetite and eat whatever is put before them, including bedding.
Food
Worms will eat half their weight in food each day. Be careful not to overfeed your worms. As you feed your family, just feed them once they have eaten some of their old food. This means no desert before dinner. The worms have no teeth, preferring food mashed, chopped or pureed.
Worms need a variety of foods, and we appreciate a well-rounded diet. Worms will happily eat fruits and remains of plants / Pela (except citrus, onion, garlic and peppers), tea bags / tea leaves, coffee grounds and filters, crushed egg shells, newspaper, cardboard, egg cartons grating and / soaked pizza boxes, old flowers and small amounts of garden waste, pasta, rice, bread and cereal wet, hair and small amounts of dust from the cleaner. Avoid onions, garlic, citrus, dairy, seafood, meat, oil, and animal dung, or the fry will run for the hills.
Worms
The Fry red are the most resistant, faster players in the world culture efficiently parasites that eat waste to make vermicompost. Well-fed worms replicate faster, at an alarming rate. That is double the population in 3-4 months. Young red worms are a shade of white, but turns red at maturity.
Harvesting worm compost
Harvest the compost is easy, just push the bedding and worms one end of the box and fill the other side with fresh bedding and table scraps. Within weeks, the worms Munch your way to fresh food and can make the payment of the abandoned trash.
Trade with vermi compost bins culture, the work is done for you, only makes collecting worm bottom trays, and fill up with trays of food.
If you find that growing earthworms and vermicompost are not your thing, you can always have the day off and hang a poster in the worm bin that says "Gone Fishin!"
