When is the best time to plant roses in Virginia?
I just bought my house and would love to have a beautiful garden! Need advice on what to plant and when I plant roses?
For your area and to be on the safe side, the best time to plant roses is in the spring. Fall does not always allow sufficient time for the plant to establish its root system before potentially damaging cold weather. Knockout roses I bought my pot in the sale in September at The Home Depot, because they are tough and hard. They survived my zone 5 winter without protection and are blooming like crazy. I also firmly rooted roses planted in pots during the summer plants, but in general, is ideal for planting roses before giving the best chance of get well established before winter.
